This easy shrimp and grits recipe layers tender shrimp, smoky sausage, fresh garlic, lemon butter, and Tasty Tin Spicy Garlic Dust over warm, creamy grits. The shrimp and sausage cook together in one pan, making this Southern-inspired comfort food an easy choice for brunch, dinner, or anytime you want restaurant-worthy flavor at home.

Shrimp & Grits

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp oil (canola or grapeseed)

  • 1 lb fresh shrimp (16/20ct) peeled & deveined

  • ½ lb loose sausage (andouille or chorizo preferred)

  • 2 tbsp chopped garlic

  • 1 tsp Tasty Tin® Spicy Garlic Dust

  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 lemon

  • flat leaf parsely

  • 1 cup dry grits, cooked to your liking

Directions

  1. Cook your grits according to the package directions.  I like to cook mine in homemade chicken broth and add shredded cheese for extra flavor.

  2. Heat oil in a large sauté pan on medium heat.  Add sausage to the pan, breaking up into bite-sized pieces.

  3. Once the sausage is cooked through add shrimp, garlic, spicy garlic dust, paprika and zest from the lemon

  4. Sauté for approximately 2 minutes. Turn off the heat and add juice from the lemon and butter.  Stir so the butter will slowly melt into a sauce.

  5. Sprinkle with parsley and serve over warm grits
