This recipe quickly became a favorite in my kitchen during the holidays, but the truth is these spiced pecans work year-round. Make a batch ahead of time and keep them on hand for entertaining, gifting, or adding a little extra flavor to everyday meals.
Ingredients
- 2 cups raw pecan halves

6 tablespoons brown sugar

1.5 tablespoons water

1 tablespoon A Sprinkle of Spice (or more if you’re feeling bold!)

½ teaspoon vanilla bean paste
Directions
Add all ingredients to a small saucepan over medium heat.
Stir constantly to keep the sugar from burning, until the sugar melts and coats the pecans evenly (about 3–4 minutes).
Lay the pecans out on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer.
Let them cool and harden for about an hour.
Store in an airtight jar for up to a week.
Recipe Note
Don’t like pecans? This recipe works beautifully with other nuts such as walnuts, almonds, or cashews. You can also experiment with seeds like pumpkin seeds for a different texture.
This method creates a slightly sticky candied coating. If you prefer a firmer, crunchier shell, spread the finished pecans on a baking sheet and bake at 250°F for 20–25 minutes, stirring halfway through.
Allow the nuts to cool completely before storing so the coating can set properly.
